Porter Named All-NBA Summer League First Team

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The NBA announced tonight that Wizards guard Glen Rice was unanimously named Most Valuable Player of the Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 by a panel of media members, while Wizards forward Otto Porter was named to the All-NBA Summer League First Team.
Rice averaged a league-high 25.0 points to go along with 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting .469 from the floor and .361 from three-point range in leading the Wizards to a 5-1 record.  He scored at least 22 points in each of the Wizards' games, including a 36-point effort in their 95-94 triple-overtime win over San Antonio on July 19.
Joining Rice on the All-NBA Summer League First Team is Wizards forward Otto Porter.  Porter averaged 19.0 points (currently tied for seventh in the league), 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting .469 from the floor and .389 from three-point range over the Wizards’ six games in Las Vegas.  He scored in double figures in all six games, including 27 points against San Antonio on July 19 and 25 points against Atlanta on July 12.
Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 has featured a tournament-style schedule for the second consecutive year, with the Golden State Warriors having won the inaugural championship in 2013.  Each of the participating teams played three games apiece between July 11 and 15 before being seeded in the tournament, which tipped off on July 16 and will run through the championship game on July 21.  The Wizards' run in the tournament came to an end with their 74-62 semifinal loss to Sacramento earlier tonight.
